The Foundation Certificate in Personal Finance (FCPF) has been designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to be able to cope confidently and effectively with basic financial encounters they are likely to meet.
Students will learn what influences how we spend or save money and how to become competent at managing their own money.

The course is divided into two units:
There are no entry requirements for the ifs School of Finance level 1 Foundation Certificate in Personal Finance.
FCPF is incorporated into the National Qualifications Framework as a vocationally related qualification at level 1.
The recommended guided learning hours for FCPF is 60 hours.
All units are paper-based examinations.
Unit One is assessed by a single 30-minute objective test that will comprise 30 questions; 21 stand alone multiple choice questions and three sets of stimulus material, each with three associated questions.
Unit Two is also assessed by a single 30-minute objective test that will comprise 30 questions. Fifteen stand alone, multiple choice questions and five sets of stimulus material,each with three associated questions.
There are 60 marks available for the whole qualification. A pass must be achieved in both units to gain the award ie 15 marks in each unit.

Registration fee is £24 per student (this includes one examination entry per unit, access to online study material and an empty binder). Students can retake any examination for a fee of £12.
