The ifs School of Finance, a financial educational charity, has confirmed that almost 100 Universities in the UK have students taking part in their annual ifs Uni Investor Challenge.
Participants have a fantasy £100,000 to invest over a three month period (February - April) and the top performing portfolio holders ie those who achieve the greatest growth, will then have to write an essay detailing why they made the investment decisions they did.
The ultimate winner will pick up a cash prize of £9,000 - sufficient to pay three years' tuition fees. In addition, there is a postgraduate league with a top prize of £3,000 and monthly prizes throughout the Challenge.
Gary Millner, Director of Corporate Relations and Communications at the ifs School of Finance said,
"We are delighted that 98 Universities have students taking part in a challenge that is incredibly useful in educating about finance. The ifs Uni Investor Challenge does give students a practical insight into stock markets, savings and investments and these are skills that will stay with participants for life.
We wish all those taking part the very best of luck and look forward to seeing how students perform over the duration of the challenge."
University students who missed the February deadline for taking part in the challenge will now have to wait until next year's challenge is launched. Further details can be found online at: www.uni-investor.org
