Please note that as of 6 April 2007, the CeLTM qualification will be replaced by the Certificate in Regulated Equity Release (CeRER). As of 5 March 2007, we will not be accepting any further registrations for the CeLTM qualification. For further information on this, please call Customer & Student Services Enquiries on + 44 (0) 1227 818609.

Who should study CeLTM®?

From 31 October 2004 the sale and marketing of Lifetime Mortgages (LTM) became a regulated activity under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). A part of the new regulatory requirements is that new advisers of LTM must attain an appropriate qualification.

The CeLTM® qualification comprises the following modules:

* The Lifetime Mortgages module comprises of two units: Fundamentals of Lifetime Mortgage Solutions (Unit 1) and Lifetime Mortgage Advice (Unit 2).

Please note

From 6 April 2007, the sale and marketing of Equity Release, including Lifetime Mortgages and Home Reversion Plans will be regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). As part of the new regulatory requirements, anyone advising on any form of Equity Release must attain an appropriate qualification. Anyone who is authorised to advise on Lifetime Mortgages by 5 April 2007 will be able to advise on all forms of Equity Release, including Home Reversions, under “grandfathering” arrangements. However, these arrangements will only apply until 5 April 2009. After that date, advisers will need to have passed an appropriate qualification such as the Certificate in Regulated Equity Release (CeRER).

Because some students may wish to qualify on the wider basis, we are offering an option to help them. Students can register for Unit 1 under the Lifetime Mortgages module and then sit Unit 2 under the Equity Release module. If both units are passed you will have an appropriate qualification to advise on all forms of regulated Equity Release, including Home Reversions. Students can sit Unit 1 from 15 January 2007 and then sit Unit 2 from 10 April 2007.
