The assessment process
The ifs has an assessment strategy that follows core principles of good practice.
As a student, you can expect:
- to receive information on how the courses and programme of study will be assessed prior to assessment;
- to receive written confirmation of your examination timetable in advance;
- a fair and objective process, subject to internal monitoring and external moderation;
- feedback on the assessment;
- reasonable adjustments to be made (where possible) to take into account any special needs that you may have arising from disability/illness, assuming that you have notified the ifs at the earliest possible opportunity;
- consideration to be given where assessment performance has been affected by serious illness/extenuating circumstances. You are expected to provide written medical/independent documentary evidence to support this request;
- to have the right to appeal against the decision of an Examiners' Board.
As a student, you are expected to:
- ensure that the ifs holds correct contact details for the duration of your studies, during assessment and post assessment for the issue of your assessment results;
- observe the ifs Code of Practice - Assessment of Students (Chapter 12).
