The Monetary and Financial System syllabus

This module provides a full and in-depth understanding of the financial services industry. It has undergone massive changes in the last thirty years and there is every reason to believe that the next few years will be the same. Whilst the module concentrates on the situation that faces the industry now, it is continually evolving to embrace changes as they take place (or soon after). Economics plays a part in this module but you are not expected to study economics for its own sake. The interest here is in how appropriate economic ideas impact on the financial services industry. The module will allow you to view some of the wider aspects of the role in the industry. You will gain a fuller appreciation of the reasons why certain tasks have to be undertaken.
