Is this module right for me?

Organisations and Individuals is aimed at those who want to gain a good grounding in management theory and practice. You don’t need to be managing staff currently, but if you envisage that your career path will lead you to a management role some time in the near future, then this module will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge.

This module will appeal to those who wish to develop their views and expand their thinking on how organisations work and, more importantly, understanding the emotions and concerns of the people that work within them. Managers today need to engage their teams through participation and empowerment, yet at the same time show empathy and still be able to deliver outstanding performance. The effective management of people is the most difficult, yet the most rewarding of any experience and the manager needs to understand the importance of good managerial practices and how to make the best use of people. The promotion of good human relations is an integral part of this process and an essential requirement of managing and improving organisational performance.

Completion of this module will give you a sound understanding of the role of a manager, and enable you to manage yourself and your workload with greater efficiency. It will challenge you to think about management in terms of behaviour and making things happen.
